Why Set Goals - Part 1 One of the first things you need to do when you think about home business ideas is to decide what you are trying to accomplish. What you want to accomplish should be those goals you should develop before you start your business. Why set goals? I am a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more luck I have, so said Thomas Jefferson, the third President of the USA. Of course you can work hard, or you can work smart. Defining and setting your goals is the smart way to work. Processionary caterpillars work hard. They will blindly follow each other. In an experiment by John Henry Fabre, food was placed in the center, and the caterpillars were placed in a circle the food. The caterpillars just went round and around in a circle until they dropped of starvation. They were working hard, but they were not working smart. But the issue really is: Does it pay you to define and set your goals?       Well, let's talk about this issue for a few minutes. One of life's great mysteries is why some people succeed and others fail. Case studies of achievers and non-achievers reveal certain common denominators. We are not concerned with non-achievers here, so we are not going to discuss their failures. However, regarding achievers, one of their most prominent common qualities is that they are dreamers. Dreamers have visions of the future. Achievers dream of life as it can be, and they develop specific goals in life that make those dreams come true. Your ability to dream and set goals will determine your future achievements. Nothing significant has ever been achieved without it first being somebody's dream, somebody's vision of the future. Great Leaders have always sold the idea of having dreams. Martin Luther King in his Mountain Top talk said, "I have a dream". Earl Nightingale said "Success is the progressive realization of a worthwhile dream". Dreaming is a natural part of living. It is our hope for a better future and gives us something positive to anticipate. Our dreams crystallize as our desires become stronger. Spend some time trying to find a top work at home business but get your goals in place before you finally choose.
